Meek Mill appealing prison sentence
After Meek Mill was sentenced to prison for violating probation, which caused many people (including Jay-Z) to blame an unjust system, the Philly rapper is now officially appealing his sentence, Billboard reports.
His lawyer tells Billboard that Meek is filing a motion to be released from prison and for his probation to be terminated, and he also requested “the recusal of Judge Brinkley from considering and ruling on that motion and from any further adjudicatory role in this case.”
The complaint claimed the Philadelphia judge ordered Mill to confinement on Nov. 6 against the recommendation of his probation officer, who said he had “responded well” and “actively participated in an effort towards behavioral change.” The report went on to cite alleged examples of Judge Brinkley bringing personal opinion into her ruling. “Judge Brinkley has repeatedly offered inappropriate personal and professional advice to the defendant,” Mill’s attorney stated.
