Melvins share Butthole Surfers/James Gang medley "Stop Moving To Florida"

Melvins recently announced that they would be releasing a new album with two bassists, Steve McDonald of Redd Kross and Jeff Pinkus of Butthole Surfers, that it would have the Buttholes/Pinkus-referencing title of Pinkus Abortion Technician, and that it would include a medley of the James Gang’s “Stop” with the Butthole Sufers’ “Moving To Florida” called “Stop Moving To Florida.” It turns out that song is the first single, and you can hear it in all its weirdo glory below. Buzz Osborne said, “I wanted to do the song ‘Stop’ but I didn’t want to do all of it and I LOVE ‘Moving to Florida’ so ‘Stop Moving To Florida’ seemed perfect.”

The album also includes a cover of the Butthole Surfers’ “Graveyard” and The Beatles’ “I Want To Hold Your Hand.” It drops on April 20 via Ipecac.

As mentioned, Melvins are also touring, including a Brooklyn show on May 11 at Warsaw (tickets).
