Of the Prince tribute nights we’ve heard about in NYC, this is the most exciting. Members of Holy Ghost!, Starchild, Blood Orange and other musicians will be performing Prince’s 1987 double album Sign o’ the Times in full at Brooklyn Bowl on June 2. Tickets are on sale.

Organized by drummer Chris Egan (who has played with Blood Orange, Solange Knowles, Kindess, Say Hi, Adam Green and others), the lineup is:

Bryndon Cook (Starchild) • Vocals/Lead Guitar
David Ginyard (Screaming Headless Torsos) • Bass
Alex Frankel (Holy Ghost!) • Synth
Nick Millhiser (Holy Ghost!) • LM1 Drum machine
Jon Cowherd (Brian Blade Fellowship, Cassandra Wilson) • Hammond Organ
Chris Egan • Drums
Jason Arce • Saxophone
Xavier Smith • Vocals
Ava Raiin • Backing Vocals
Eva Tolken • Backing Vocals
Liam Benzvi • Backing Vocals

More guests to be announced (Dev Hynes? Caroline Polachek?). Sign o’ the Times spawned three Top 10 hits — “U Got the Look,” “I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man” and the LP’s title track — and many consider it to be his eccentric masterpiece. Stream it, and check out the flyer for the Brooklyn Bowl show, below.
