Ozzy

Ozzy planning tour? Zakk Wylde is ++ Jag Panzer playing as 'Randy Rhoads Experience'

We already mentioned that power metal vets Jag Panzer have a show coming up at Saint Vitus on July 9, but classic metalheads will be able to get a double dose of Panzer if they so choose. They’ll be back in a different guise the next night (July 10), this time as The Randy Rhoads Experience, an Ozzy tribute band playing stuff from his first two albums as well as a couple Black Sabbath songs. The members of Jag Panzer will be joined by 5 different vocalists, including Saint Vitus owner George Souleidis (also of Polygamist), Mike Sanders of Toxik, Jeff Rose of Power Theory, Jess Rittgers of Psychoprism, and John Scherer of Deathrash. The openers are local power metal dudes Spiritual Sickness. Should be a fun night, and tickets for that are still on sale.

Meanwhile, if a tribute isn’t quite enough to do it for you, you’ll probably still be able to catch the real Ozzman at some point down the line. Even as Black Sabbath plans to hang it up for good after their current tour, Ozzy has no designs on quitting music, or as he calls it, “the greatest love affair of my life.” As he told Billboard:

It’s not me that wants to retire; it’s Black Sabbath. I’ll be continuing my own musical thing. My wife is good at telling me partial information, y’know, but I know I’m not hanging ’em up for awhile. Being Ozzy Osbourne solo again is not a job. It’s a passion. It’s a love. It’s the biggest, greatest love affair of my life.

So keep an eye out for that, maybe.

And as if that weren’t enough, Epic Records president Sylvia Rhone also spoke to Billboard and promised that Ozzy has a new album in the works, a follow-up to 2010’s Scream (I still prefer 2005’s Under Cover). So, you know, keep an eye out for that too. Meanwhile, look out for him on the History Channel.

In related news, Zack Wylde, who is on tour (dates that include Webster Hall are listed below) was just announced as the opener for Guns N’ Roses in Phoenix. GNR’s show last night featured a guest appearance by Stephen Adler.
