members of Shearwater, Deerhoof, Xiu Xiu & more playing Bowie's "Berlin Trilogy" live in NYC

A whole bunch of cool musicians are coming together to perform David Bowie’s “Berlin Trilogy” (aka 1977’s Low and Heroes and 1979’s Lodger, all of which were made with Brian Eno and Tony Visconti during the time he lived in Berlin) at three free shows in NYC. Part of WNYC’s “New Sounds Live” series, the shows happen at Brookfield Place on October 17 (Lodger), October 18 (Heroes) and October 19 (Low). Shearwater’s Jonathan Meiburg leads the ensemble of musicians that includes Carlos Alomar, who was Bowie’s rhythm guitarist for 30 years, Angel Deradoorian, Xiu Xiu’s Jamie Stewart, Greg Fox (Zs, Uniform, Liturgy), Deerhoof’s Ed Rodriguez, plus other members of Shearwater, the Wordless Music Orchestra, and more.

Each night, doors are at 7:30 PM and shows will open with “short programs of music that inspired the trilogy composed by Brian Eno and Klaus Schulze.” Head here for more details, and stream Bowie’s Berlin Trilogy below.

If you need more: a group of former Bowie live band members will be touring a Bowie tribute again in 2019.
