Metal tours announced: False, Batushka, High on Fire/Power Trip, Meth., more

Tons of shows get announced every week, and it can be hard to keep up. Here are all the heavy music (metal, hardcore & more) tours, shows & fests that we posted on BV this week, and some new ones too…

METH.

Chicago math/noisecore band Meth. have shared a second single off their upcoming album Mother of Red Light (due 8/23 via Prosthetic) and announced a tour supporting it. The tour begins in the Northeast and includes shows in NJ (8/31 at The Clubhouse in Tom’s River), Brooklyn (9/1 at Saint Vitus), Philly, Baltimore, Richmond, and more. All dates here.

HIGH ON FIRE / POWER TRIP / DEVIL MASTER / CREEPING DEATH

This amazing quadruple bill for metal/punk fans goes down across North America in November and December, right after High On Fire and Power Trip both play Austin’s Levitation festival.

FALSE

Minneapolis black metal band False are celebrating their great new album Portent by performing it at two exclusive East Coast shows, one in Brooklyn and one in Philly.

CEREBRAL ROT / FETID

Seattle death metal bands and 20 Buck Spin labelmates Cerebral Rot and Fetid are hitting the road together in late summer/fall in support of their 2019 debut albums.

BATUSHKA

Polish black metal band Batushka (the one led by Bartek, not to be confused with the one led by Krysiuk) announced a North American tour supporting their new Metal Blade-released album Hospodi.

BRANT BJORK / ECSTATIC VISION

Stoner rock veteran and former Kyuss/Fu Manchu member Brant Bjork is hitting the road this year with heavy psych band Ecstatic Vision, which is a well-matched pairing. All dates (including Brooklyn’s Kingsland on 9/19) here. Brant is also reissuing his 1999 solo debut Jalamanta for its 20th anniversary on September 13 via Heavy Psych Sounds, and Ecstatic Vision are releasing their new album For The Masses on September 20 via that same label. You can hear new single “Shut Up and Drive” below (via PopMatters).

WOVENHAND / JAYE JAYLE

Two metal-meets-non-metal acts, Wovenhand and Jaye Jayle (Evan of Young Widows), are hitting the road together this year leading up to Jaye Jayle’s set at Levitation. The tour hits Chicago, Boston, Asbury Park (9/12 at AP Brewery), Philly, Brooklyn (9/14 at Saint Vitus), DC, Nashville, Denver, and more. All dates here. ALL OUT WAR

Upstate NY metallic hardcore vets All Out War are streaming their new album today, and they’ve also got upcoming tour dates with Eyehategod, Sheer Terror, In Cold Blood, Nile, Terrorizer, Agnostic Front, Prong, Outer Heaven, and more.

KAYO DOT / CLERIC

Kayo Dot shared the first single off their upcoming album and scheduled a hometown show with Cleric. More info here, and possibly more dates TBA.

ASTHMA CASTLE

Baltimore stoner/sludge band Asthma Castle — whose drummer is Adam Jarvis of Pig Destroyer, Misery Index, and Scour — released their debut album Mount Crushmore earlier this year, and they’re hitting the road in support of it this August. All dates (including Brooklyn’s El Cortez on 8/10) here.

CURRENT 93

David Tibet hasn’t played a Current 93 show in NYC in 20 years, but that should change with two shows in April 2020.

YOUTH OF TODAY

Youth of Today — who are reunited with the lineup of Ray Cappo, Porcell, Walter Schreifels, and Sammy Siegler — have more shows coming up including an Asbury Park show in November.

JUDGE

Youth of Today’s Asbury Park show is the day before fellow NYHC vets Judge play the same venue, and Judge also have a Europe tour with World Be Free before that. All dates here.

CEREMONY / GLITTERER / CHOIR BOY

Ceremony are about a month out from releasing In the Spirit World Now, and today they announced a September tour which has them out with Glitterer (aka Title Fight’s Nate Russin who released an album this month) and, for the first half of the dates, Utah nu-romantics Choir Boy as well.

AS CITIES BURN / ALL GET OUT / MANY ROOMS

Post-hardcore vets As Cities Burn recently released their first new album in ten years, Scream Through the Walls, on Equal Vision, and then they went on a tour with indie/alt rockers All Get Out and singer/songwriter Many Rooms. Now they’ve announced another round of dates with that same lineup, this time hitting Northeast cities like Somerville, Hartford, Brooklyn (9/6 at Saint Vitus), Philly, Garwood in NJ (9/8 at Crossroads), Baltimore, Richmond, and more.
