Roadburn

Metal tours announced: Roadburn, 1349, Weedeater, King Diamond, Ringworm, more

Tons of shows get announced every week, and it can be hard to keep up. Here are all the heavy music (metal, hardcore & more) tours, shows & fests that we posted on BV this week, and some new ones too…

ROADBURN

The always-amazing Netherlands metal festival Roadburn returns April 16-19 in 2020, and this year’s curators are Emma Ruth Rundle and Perturbator’s James Kent. Commissioned projects include James Kent collaborating with Cult of Luna’s Johannes Persson for a “performance that will form something of a grand centre-piece for Roadburn,” Jo Quail presents The Cartographer, the first and last performance of Vile Creature and Bismuth’s new collaborative piece A Hymn of Loss and Hope, and Julie Christmas performing new (and old) material with a band including Cult of Luna’s Johannes Persson and former Kylesa member Laura Pleasants. Tickets go on sale September 24 and more artists/performances TBA.

PRO-PAIN

NYC metal vets Pro-Pain, whose sole original member is bassist/vocalist Gary Meskil (previously of Crumbsuckers), are in the midst of a lengthy Europe tour, and they’ve got a hometown show scheduled for March 21, 2020 at The Kingsland.

SECT

Straightedge supergroup SECT (members of Earth Crisis, Catharsis, Cursed, Fall Out Boy, etc) are playing just two shows Labor Day Weekend: a matinee at Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus on Saturday, August 31 with Fluoride opening, and a DC show on Sunday, September 1 at The Pinch with Bustdown and Brainpan.

WEEDEATER

Stoner metal lifers Weedeater remain loyal to the road, and they’ll be returning to the stage later this month (8/27) in Tennessee to begin a tour that runs through 9/4 and also hits Chicago with Orange Goblin, Muddy Roots Fest, Savannah, Athens, and more. All dates here.

1349 / UADA

Norwegian black metallers 1349, who have an anticipated new album on the way, and they recently announced an East Coast/Midwest tour with Uada, including Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus on 10/28 and many other dates. Now, after playing Psycho Las Vegas, they’ve also added Southwest and West Coast dates to that tour. Full tour schedule here.

HAVOK / RINGWORM / VIO-LENCE / MOBILE DEATHCAMP

Thrash revivalists Havok and metallic hardcore pioneers Ringworm announced a tour with support from Mobile Deathcamp, and it includes a Denver stop with additional support from reunited thrash legends Vio-lence. Vio-lence just impressed us at Psycho Las Vegas, and they also play two NYC shows in November, LA’s Decibel Metal & Beer Fest, and Maryland Deathfest 2020. All Havok/Ringworm dates here. Meanwhile, Ringworm — who released the very good Death Becomes My Voice this year — are on tour now with Goatwhore and also have upcoming dates with Eyehategod and Hatebreed (listed here).

KING DIAMOND / UNCLE ACID & THE DEADBEATS / IDLE HANDS

Not only are Mercyful Fate reuniting for their first shows in 20+ years, frontman King Diamond is releasing a new album and going on a fall North American tour with two very cool support bands.

EXHUMED / GATECREEPER / NECROT / JUDICIARY

Holy crap, this tour.

IMSOMNIUM

Finnish melodeath vets Insomnium shared the first single off their anticipated new album today, and they’ve also got an insane amount of tour dates coming up in both North America and Europe.

ORANSSI PAZUZU

Finnish psychedelic metal greats Oranssi Pazuzu sadly had to cancel their Psycho Las Vegas set and their pre-fest shows in California last week due to visa issues, and we hoped that didn’t mean they would have to cancel their upcoming East Coast fall tour, which is supposed to be their first proper North American tour. Well, things are looking good, as Oranssi Pazuzu not only still has that tour ready to go, they just added West Coast and Southwest dates happening right afterwards in Texas, Arizona, California, Oregon, and Washington. All dates here.

CURL UP AND DIE

Las Vegas mathcore vets Curl Up and Die reunited for an Anaheim show in June, they’re playing a hometown show this month, and now they’ve added their first East Coast show since returning, happening in NYC.

MR. BUNGLE

Mr. Bungle expanded their reunion tour, adding a third LA show, making for a total of seven upcoming shows.

MONO

Japanese post-rock greats added three special US orchestral shows to their 2019 tour schedule. They also play the Toronto date of Black Mountain’s tour…

BLACK MOUNTAIN (DATES WITH GRAVEYARD, MAJEURE, RYLEY WALKER)

Heavy psych greats Black Mountain just played Psycho Las Vegas over the weekend and have dates throughout the fall, including runs with Graveyard, Majeure and Ryley Walker). They also released a Black Sabbath cover this week.

LA DISPUTE / TOUCHE AMORE / EMPATH

Old friends, fellow New Wave of Post-Hardcore staples, and Epitaph labelmates La Dispute and Touche Amore will tour the US together this year with support from rising noise rockers Empath.
