Michael K Williams (Omar from The Wire) to star in Miles Davis biopic next year

Michael K Williams (aka Omar from The Wire, Chalky White from Boardwalk Empire, Freddy from The Night Of, and more) has long been rumored to play Miles Davis in a biopic, and FACT points out that he told Radar Radio it will finally happen in 2018. He said that the film is “very much happening” and the goal is to go into production in the first quarter of 2018, “but you know, Hollywood.” FACT also points to a 2011 BET interview, where Williams said playing Miles Davis is one of his dream roles.

Last year, a Miles Davis biopic called Miles Ahead came out, starring Don Cheadle (who’s also in the just-released Kendrick Lamar video) and scored by Robert Glasper.

A few years back, it was also reported that Omar would play Ol’ Dirty Bastard in a movie called Dirty White Boy. That has yet to develop.

Williams is also in talks to star in a Han Solo Star Wars spinoff that’s set to hit theaters on May 25, 2018. (This is not to be confused with The Last Jedi.)
