Michelle Branch played Bowery Electric backed by Patrick Carney & Tennis (pics)

Michelle Branch is gearing up to release her first album 14 years, Hopeless Romantic, which was produced by Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney (who she’s currently dating). Ahead of its release, she played a semi-surprise, very intimate show at NYC’s Bowery Electric on Wednesday (1/25) evening. She said it was her first show with a band in a while, and that band included Patrick on drums, the two core members of Tennis on guitar and keys, and session musician Jake Blanton (who recently toured as a member of The Killers) on bass. They played side A of her upcoming record, and ended with the classic “Are You Happy Now?”. Pictures of the show are in the gallery above.

Hopeless Romantic comes out April 7 via Verve, and the title track will be out in February. Stay tuned.
