Misfits’ NYC show will be at Madison Square Garden
Yesterday, Live Nation NYC posted a teaser that seemed to suggest the Misfits would be playing NYC, and they later revealed the venue: Madison Square Garden. As you can see in the picture above (which Live Nation posted with the hashtag #MisfitsMSG), MSG advertised it on their outdoor screen last night. The date is still TBA, but stay tuned.
UPDATE: Date and ticket info revealed, and Rancid and The Damned are opening. More info here.
We already know from their previous 10-or-so shows, that the reunited “Original” Misfits are now a band that can headline festivals and headline and sell out arenas (for now at least), but it must certainly be a special moment for Glenn Danzig. Coming from just across the river in Lodi, NJ, the Misfits — unlike the openers of a show they played at Irving Plaza in 1982 (see below) — never came close to these heights during their initial existence (or in Jerry Only version’s existence), and even Danzig was just a large club and theater band at its heights (and still is). I’m sure Glenn is looking forward to his prestigious MSG moment (no offense, “Prudential Center”).
