Mitski playing "last show indefinitely" in Central Park with Lucy Dacus
Mitski has been bigger and better than ever since releasing her excellent 2018 album Be The Cowboy, and she’s been continuing to tour like crazy in support of it. Having just played NYC’s Governors Ball, the NYC artist added a headlining hometown show for September 7 at SummerStage at Central Park, and she says “This will be my last show indefinitely, and and I’m glad it’s ending in NY where I came up.” In a reply, she added, “It’s time to be a human again. And have a place to live.” Does that mean she’s planning a career hiatus or something? We certainly hope not!
Update: Mitski further clarified:
Y’all, I’m not quitting music! Me? Quit music?? I’ve been on non-stop tour for over 5years, I haven’t had a place to live during this time, & I sense that if I don’t step away soon, my self-worth/identity will start depending too much on staying in the game, in the constant churn.
I don’t want to make art like that, especially when you’re offering your valuable time and hearts and money to it. So I hope you’ll have me back whenever that is, or if I start over then I start over. Thank you so much for all your support!
