Mobb Deep's Prodigy honored with mural in Queensbridge

The late Prodigy of Mobb Deep has been honored with a mural in his hometown of Queensbridge, DNAinfo reports. The painting is on the side of Urban Upbound’s building at 13th St and 40th Ave, which is right across from the Queensbridge Houses where Mobb Deep (and Nas) came up. It was painted by Eli-Eos (who also did a nearby Nas mural) and Jeff Henriquez. That’s a photo of the mural above and you can check out more (including some in-progress shots) below.

DNAinfo also points out that Eli-Eos and Jeff Henriquez are helping plan a candlelight vigil for the site on Thursday, July 13.

In other recent news, the Art of Rap show in Newark over the weekend (that Mobb Deep were supposed to play) was turned into a big tribute to Prodigy. His Mobb Deep partner Havoc still made it to the show and played some Mobb Deep songs. Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, DMX, and Ice-T all played too. The following night, Nas played “Shook Ones” at a Netherlands festival in honor of Prodigy. Watch videos of both tributes below.

Nas has several upcoming dates, including a free Brooklyn show this month.
