Mock Orange are the latest “golden age” emo band to sign to Topshelf, and they’ll release their first album for the label (sixth overall), Put The Kid On The Sleepy Horse, on May 20. It follows 2011’s Disguised as Ghosts. In case you haven’t been keeping up with Mock Orange, they haven’t sounded like an emo band in a while. The album’s new single “Nine Times” is arty mid-tempo rock with shaky vocals, and weird musical twists and turns like trippy sound effects, fuzzy guitar solos, mandolins and more. Listen below.
