Modern Baseball @ Shea Stadium – 10/17/15

After playing FADER Fort on Friday night, Modern Baseball played a last-minute noon set at Lame-O Records’ CMJ showcase at Shea Stadium on Saturday (10/17). Probably because of the short notice and early set time, Shea was actually not packed for Modern Baseball, who usually play much larger venues. But the intimate and brightly-lit show was still great. Their half hour set included fan favorites such as “Rock Bottom” and “Fine, Great,” and some of their new songs as well. This set was more informal than their regular shows, complete with them shouting at their drummer Sean to come onstage with them after he went AWOL, and goofing off with the audience.

The showcase continued after their set with eight more artists, including an acoustic set from Jeff Rosenstock, who is about to tour with Modern Baseball. That tour (also including PUP and Tiny Moving Parts) includes the way bigger NYC venue Webster Hall on December 11. Tickets are still on sale for that show.
