MoMA PS1 Warm Up
Warm Up 2018 (more by Ryan Muir)

The annual Warm Up returns to MoMA PS1‘s courtyard every Saturday in July and August this year, with cool art installations and dance parties under the sun featuring hip hop, electronic music, Afro-pop, dancehall, indie pop, reggaeton, and more.

This year’s Warm Up kicks off on July 6 with Freddie Gibbs & Madlib (whose anticipated new album will hopefully be out before then), plus Cardi B collaborator Pardison Fontaine, the great Kelly Lee Owens (who DJs Elsewhere the day before), Russian ambient/electronic musician Kedr Livanskiy, and locals JOY and duendita.

Warm Up 2019 also includes the US debut of Nigerian alté singer Santi; a day with Smino, Boogie, “Mo Bamba” producers Take A Daytrip, Jamaican dancehall singer Shenseea, bilingual indie pop band The Marías, and more; a day with experimental NYC rapper MIKE, South African gqom rapper Sho Madjozi, Madrid singer/rapper C. Tangana, Queens rapper Deem Spencer, local DJs Tygapaw and Bembona, and more TBA; dancehall crew Equiknoxx (including vocalist Shanique Marie); UK R&B singer Ama Lou; UK electronic/rock artist Nabihah Iqbal; BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac; Argentina reggaeton singer Ms. Nina; more various types of hip hop from London’s AJ Tracey, Alabama’s Chika, Catalonia’s Bad Gyal, London’s Flohio, Detroit producer Black Noi$e, Dominican singer/rapper Fuego, the Bay Area’s P-Lo; more electronic music from Shigeto, DJ Seinfeld, Rosa Pistola, Eris rew, Mr. Mitch, Djrum; and still more.

This year’s big installation is Hórama Rama by Mexico City-based architects Pedro & Juana, “a 40-foot-tall cyclorama featuring jungle imagery that sits atop the courtyard walls, providing a refuge amid the changing Long Island City skyline.”

Tickets are on sale now. Check out the full lineup, as it currently stands, below. A few more artists are still TBA.
