Morrissey on Broadway: Night 5 (setlist, pics, video)

Morrissey‘s Broadway run has ostensibly been in celebration of his new covers album, California Son, though for the first four shows he’d only done one song from it — Jobriath’s “Morning Starship” — but Wednesday night he opened with his cover of Laura Nyro/5th Dimension’s “Wedding Bell Blues” (the “Marry Me Bill” song). He still did “Morning Starship,” too, as well as The Pretenders’ “Back on the Chain Gang,” which isn’t on California Son, but he’s been doing regularly.

The rest of Night 5 set was a mix of Smiths songs and solo cuts he’s been doing this week, including “Hairdresser on Fire,” “Alma Matters,” “That Joke Isn’t Funny Anymore,” “The Bullfighter Dies,” “How Soon is Now,” “Everyday is Like Sunday,” “Is it Really So Strange?,” and “The First of the Gang to Die.” Check out the full Morrissey on Broadway Night 5 setlist, plus a few other Instagrams, below.

Morrissey takes Thursday off, and then finishes his run at the Lunt-Fontanne on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are still available. He’ll then be back in NYC at the end of summer when his tour with Interpol hits Forest Hills Stadium on September 9 (tickets).
