Morrissey paid tribute to David Cassidy, jabbed at Trump at NYC show (pics, setlist, video)

Morrissey‘s show in Philadelphia on Monday was canceled due to illness, but his NYC tour stop at The Theatre at Madison Square Garden two days prior (12/2) went off without a hitch. The setlist was pretty similar to what he’s been performing this whole Low in High School tour, favoring the new album with a mix of older solo songs, Smiths favorites, and covers of Elvis Presley’s “You’ll Be Gone” and The Pretenders’ “Back on the Chain Gang.” For “Who Will Protect Us From the Police?” he brought out the Venezuelan flag (the song ends with the repeated cry of “Venezuela.”)

He finished with a two-song encore of his debut solo single “Suedehead” that included a bit of The Partridge Family’s “I Think I Love You” in tribute to David Cassidy, and then ending with The Smiths’ “Shoplifters of the World Unite” which he sang as “Trump-shifters” for the MSG crowd. Video of both, plus a few other videos and the setlist (and his new music video for “Jacky’s Only Happy When She’s Up on the Stage”) are below, and pictures are in the gallery above.

Moz’s tour wraps up in Boston on Thursday.
