Mountain Goats burlesque/drag show happening in NYC
Not only is there a new Mountain Goats podcast and tribute album called I Only Listen To The Mountain Goats, on June 1 at NYC’s Parkside Lounge (317 E. Houston) there will be a burlesque/drag/go-go dancing tribute to them called “I Only Strip to the Mountain Goats.” It’s being hosted by Anja Keister, and they got the blessing of Mountain Goats leader John Darnielle for this show. With the blessing of John Darnielle, we’ll be gathering at the Parkside Lounge (NYC) to celebrate the music of The Mountain Goats via drag, music, go-go dancing, and burlesque. The evening will be covering tracks from all over the discography, so this will definitely be an evening for all fans of the band!

It’s a benefit show, and all proceeds will go to the National Network of Abortion Funds and the the legal defense fund for host Anja Keister, fellow burlesque performer/producer Bunny Buxom, and magician Nelson Lugo. According to the event listing, “The three are currently being sued for defamation because, to quote the public claimant, in early 2015, Mr. Naftali began hearing rumors that Ms. Buxom was accusing him of having sexually assaulted her. All funds raised are split by the needs of the defendants.” They say that any leftover funds will go to RAINN.
