Murder By Death covered "Bones" from 'I Think You Should Leave' (video)
Netflix’s sketch comedy series I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson is one of the year’s most must-see comedy shows, and if you haven’t seen it, you can binge the whole thing in two hours and then you’ll finally be in on all the I Think You Should Leave-inspired memes. One of the most memorable and frequently-memed sketches is “The Bones Are Their Money,” where Rhys Coiro (Billy Walsh in Entourage) plays a Johnny Cash-style country rocker trying to impressive record execs with his new original song, and all goes well until Tim Robinson’s character totally misinterprets Coiro’s command to “follow my lead.”
Now, music writer/podcaster Dan Ozzi — the hero that he is — asked real-life band Murder By Death, probably the most perfect band for the task, to cover “Bones.” They shot a video for it (directed by Megan Thompson) and the result is as amazing as you’d hope. Watch/listen below.
We recently caught Murder By Death opening for Frank Turner on Long Island, and they have many more dates coming up; all are listed here.
I Think You Should Leave was recently renewed for a second season.
I asked my favorite band to cover my favorite song and they said yes.
Told 'em to gimme something spooky.
