My Brightest Diamond (aka Shara Nova) has been talking about a new album for a while now, and she shed more light on it at her show at NYC’s Public Arts last night (6/28). She said something to the effect of, “it took two years to write fifty songs, one year to record them, and it will be another year before it comes out.” So I guess that means 2019 release date for the next My Brightest Diamond album?? Stay tuned.

Shara also began the show from the back of the room and made her way to the stage through the middle of the audience. She dedicated “Dorian” to the late Dave Deporis. Opening the show was Detroit rapper Mic Write, who was making his NYC debut. Pictures are in the gallery above.

MBD has more upcoming dates, including another NYC show on July 20 in Prospect Park with Anoushka Shankar (daughter of Ravi Shankar and half-sister of Norah Jones). That’s a free show and part of the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival.
