Nada Surf, Frankie Cosmos & more playing Nordstrom block party in NYC

Wegmans‘ introduction to Brooklyn isn’t the only splashy NYC retail opening happening right now; Nordstrom opened its first flagship women’s store in Manhattan this week. The seven-floor, 320,000-square foot behemoth is situated near Columbus Circle and Carnegie Hall, at 57th St and Broadway, and if a full selection of clothing, shoes, and handbags, as well as seven bars and restaurants, isn’t enough to tempt you to step inside, perhaps this associated event will be more relevant to your interests. To celebrate its opening, Nordstrom is teaming up with KEXP to throw a block party on Saturday, October 26 from 10 AM-5 PM. It happens right outside the front doors, on Broadway between 57th and 59th, and they are promising “live music, entertainment, food, giveaways, and fun activities for the whole family. Activities include face painting, giant inflatable slide, tie dye station, screen printing, pet portraits, NY Fire Department meet and greet with fire truck, magicians and more!”

The live music happens on the “KEXP x Nordstrom” stage, which will be hosted by DJ John Richards. There’s a pretty cool lineup too, featuring Nada Surf, Frankie Cosmos, Jenn Champion (S, Carissa’s Wierd), and Stag.

Nada Surf, who have been working on a new album, are also going on tour in North America in 2020.
