Neil Young gets cut off at BottleRock Napa Valley but keeps playing (watch)
As mentioned, Neil Young and his band Promise of the Real headlined Saturday (5/25) at Napa, CA’s BottleRock Napa Valley Festival. As San Francisco Chronicle points out, the festival has a strict 10 PM curfew due to its location in a residential area, with houses facing the main stage, and on Saturday Neil became the latest to play past that curfew and get his power cut (Foo Fighters and The Cure both had the same thing happen at previous years of the festival).
After starting his set with a 15-minute version of “Love and Only Love,” Neil broke out plenty of classics, including “Harvest Moon,” “Heart of Gold,” and “Don’t Let It Bring You Down” – see his full setlist below. Part of the way through “Rockin’ in the Free World,” as you can see in the video below, someone runs out onto the stage (it happens around the 7:45 mark), and less than a minute later the sound is cut. Neil and his band keep playing, though, and the crowd makes up for the loss in volume by singing loudly along.
Neil has overseas tour dates in the summer, including two big co-headlining shows with Bob Dylan – one at London’s Hyde Park on July 12, and one at Kilkenny, Ireland’s Nowlan Park on July 14.
