Fyre Festival documentary on Netflix

Netflix Fyre Festival documentary premieres in January

The two year anniversary of the fiasco that was Fyre Festival is approaching at the end of April, and if you still can’t get enough dirt on the would-be luxury getaway that deteriorated into chaos and cold cheese sandwiches, Netflix has announced a new documentary on the festival. As Pitchfork reports, Fyre will give “a first-hand look into the disastrous crash of Fyre as told by the organizers themselves.” American Movie director and producer Chris Smith directs, and it premieres on Netflix on January 18, 2019. Watch a teaser below.

Fyre isn’t the only Fyre documentary in the works – Hulu is also working on a series about the festival, due out in 2019.

Festival founder Billy McFarland was sentenced to six years in prison back in October for multiple counts of fraud, stemming both from his involvement with Fyre and with a fake ticketing scheme he is accused of running while out on bail awaiting sentencing for the Fyre charges.
