new My Bloody Valentine EP due this summer according to new Kevin Shields interview

According to a new interview with Kevin Shields in Sound On Sound Magazine, My Bloody Valentine will release a new EP this summer with plans for a second EP in Spring 2019. The info is dropped at the end of a feature about the recording of Loveless‘ opening cut “Only Shallow.” While Shields had said MBV “100% will” have a new album in 2018, the summer release of the EP does jibe with his previous statement saying “We’re going to play live again, so that’s always a really good way to guarantee that we’ll get the record done.”

Announced My Bloody Valentine dates so far: the Robert Smith-curated Meltdown Festival in London in May, Los Angeles’ FYF Fest in July, and Japan’s Sonic Mania in August.

The Sound On Sound article also says that in addition to the new EPs, Shields wants to make a double-album version of Loveless (which just got a all-analog single-LP reissue in January). As they say, stay tuned.
