new 'Mystery Science Theater 3000' will air exclusively on Netflix
The new reboot of Mystery Science Theater 3000 will air exclusively on Netflix, as creator Joel Hodgson revealed at the MST3K panel at San Diego Comic Con on Saturday night (7/23). When will it premiere? “In the not-to-distant future,” of course. Hodgson also revealed that Mary Jo Pehl, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett would reprise their Sci-Fi Channel era roles as Mrs. Forrester, Bobo the monkey, and “Brain Guy,” respectively. They’ll join the new cast which includes Johan Ray the new “regular guy in a jumps suit,” Felicia Day as new mad scientist Kinga Forrester (daughter of Dr. Clayton Forrester from the original series), Patton Oswalt as Son of TV’s Frank, and Hampton Yount and Baron Vaughn as the voices of robots Crow and Tom Servo.
Hogdson also confirmed that Dan Harmon (Community, Rick & Morty, Harmontown) and Joel McHale would be on the writing staff under head writer Elliot Kalan. What cheesy movies will they show? Will Mark Hamill guest-star? How do they eat or breathe? Repeat to yourself, “It’s just a show, I should really just relax.” Stay tuned.
