the grid canceled

new NYC fest The Grid has been canceled

The Grid, the new high-concept festival/“music initiative” set for the first week of May, has been canceled. The official statement:

It is with a very heavy heart that we have to announce the cancellation of The Grid. We started working on The Grid over two years ago and it has truly been a labor of love. The feedback from artists, musicians, fans and our NYC partners has been awesome. Our team is hopeful that we will have another chance to bring this event to life in the future. Anyone who purchased tickets will automatically receive a full refund no later than April 8, 2016. Thank you for your support.

Organizers added on Facebook, “Some of the venues may still proceed with select performances. We will announce details via social media as we confirm them.” Some of the more high-profile shows included The Promise Ring and “emo supergroup” at Irving Plaza, D Generation performing No Lunch in full at The Studio at Webster Hall, and Best Coast and Sunflower Bean at Brooklyn Bowl. Stay tuned.

The Grid, we hardly knew ya.
