As previously reported, PJ Harvey has collaborated with composer Harry Escott to contribute a cover of the traditional English folk song “An Acre of Land” to the upcoming independent UK thriller Dark River, directed by Clio Barnard. A snippet of the cover was featured in the film’s trailer, but the full song is now available for streaming. Instrumentally, the track is heavy on acoustics, with a sparse arrangement of lightly-plucked guitars and piano. PJ’s delicate vocals do a great job of carrying the emotional weight of the track, and you can hear it below.

Dark River stars Ruth Wilson, with Sean Bean and Mark Stanley in supporting roles. The film centers around a pair of reunited siblings who return home after their father’s death, and it’s out in UK cinemas on February 23. You can watch the trailer below.
