New York City naming street in Queens after Steely Dan's Walter Becker

We lost Walter Becker last year and now the Queens neighborhood where the Steely Dan guitarist grew up is getting a street named after him. In October, the city will officially co-name the corner of 112th Street and 72nd Drive in Forest Hills “Walter Becker Way.” The unveiling ceremony happens October 28 and will feature “special guests, remembrances from Becker’s friends and colleagues, as well as very special give-aways.” Says Walter’s Widow, Delia, “Walter’s fans have decades of experience holding ‘Danfests’ throughout the country and they always find innovative and eclectic ways of celebrating. It will undoubtedly be a fun and free gathering to honor and commemorate Walter as only they can!”

Meanwhile, Donald Fagen is on tour with Steely Dan as we speak and has a nine-show run at NYC’s Beacon Theatre in October.
