New York Comic Con 2019: Thursday pictures, 'Big Mouth' spinoff announced

The 2019 edition of New York Comic Con kicked off Thursday (10/3) at NYC’s Javits Center. One of the biggest pop culture events on the East Coast, the convention got off to a rainy start for its fourteenth year, but that didn’t deter thousands of fans (cosplayers included) from arriving early for its first day to take in panels, screenings, or the sprawling sales floor. Check out some pictures from day one at NYCC below.

Netflix series Big Mouth, which released its third season today on Netflix, was the subject of one of Thursday’s panels, where a spinoff called Human Resources was announced. Variety reports that Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Mark Levin, Jennifer Flackett and Kelly Galuska are attached to the new series as creators and executive producers, and it’s described as “a workplace comedy set in the world of the monsters from Big Mouth.” Watch a short clip below, and stay tuned for more from NYCC.

Meanwhile, Nick Kroll is on his “Middle-Aged Boy” stand-up tour, which includes a Brooklyn show at BAM Howard Gilman Opera House on November 9, part of New York Comedy Festival (tickets).
