New Zealand duo Purple Pilgrims playing Brooklyn residency for new LP (stream it)

New Zealand duo Purple Pilgrims recently released their sophomore album Perfumed Earth via Flying Nun. Sisters Valentine and Clementine Nixon made the record in a “wooden sanctuary hidden deep in the wilds of Tapu” and it definitely sounds like they were in touch with the children of the forest on this beautiful album. Pentatonic melodies intertwine with the Nixons’ ethereal harmonies and cosmic guitars for a sound that’s like a more arboraceous Cocteau Twins or Beach House. You can stream the whole album below.

Valentine and Clementine will be bringing Purple Pilgrims to Brooklyn for a residency at Union Pool on November 5, 12 & 19. The 11/5 show is with L’Rain, Deradoorian and C Spencer Yeh, while the 11/12 show is with C Lavender and more TBA, and the 11/19 show is with Brooks Ginnan, Constant Smiles, and Yek Koo.  Tickets for all three are on sale. Those are Purple Pilgrims’ only live dates at the moment. Check out the Union Pool residency poster below.
