Early this morning via Twitter, Nicolas Jaar announced two surprise NYC shows, where he will be playing the majority of his “new ambient record.” These two shows will take place tomorrow (10/24) at The Kitchen, the first being a launch party for Maziyar Pahlevan and Africanus Okokon‘s book Sound Works / Art Works, which was released on Jaar’s label, Other People. At the event, which begins at 6 PM, Jaar will be playing an improvised noise set, with Africanus Okokon and Vamba Bility opening.

The second show, taking place later in the day at 9 PM, will consist of Jaar performing his self-described “ambient album” live for the first time. Patrick Higgins is scheduled to open with a solo guitar and electronics set. Tickets for the second show are sold-out, but tickets for the first show are still available. No further details about the new record have been released as of yet. Stay tuned for further updates.

Jaar released his most recent record Sirens last year (which appeared on our best of 2016 list), and played Miami’s III Points festival last weekend. He also just played four sold-out shows at NYC’s Brooklyn Steel, which, at the time, he said would be his last NYC shows for a while.
