Nicole Dollanganger streams new bonus track off Run For Cover reissues, touring

Grimes associate Nicole Dollanganger recently signed to Run For Cover, and she’s re-releasing 2014’s Observatory Mansions and 2013’s Ode To Dawn Wiener: Embarrassing Love Songs via the label on October 28. The reissues come with a new full-band take on “Observatory Mansions II” as a bonus track. You can listen to that now:

Nicole also talked to The FADER about the reissues and a lot of other stuff, including the conspiracy theory that she was actually a Grimes alter-ego and not a real person:

Did you ever see that batshit conspiracy theory that theorized that you weren’t a real person, and actually just an invented alter ego of Grimes’?

I did see that. It’s flattering, I suppose, for people to draw comparisons. I admire her work so much, so if someone wants to make that leap that’s so cool. But at the same time that’s kind of offensive. I think people are so quick to lump female artists together. People are like, “Oh you sound like Evanescence.” I’m like, I really, really don’t sound like Amy Lee. I guess people maybe find Claire so mysterious that I guess they say, “It’s not a stretch to say she could do this wild thing.”

I was like reading the [conspiracy theory] thread on Reddit and it got really intense. One dude was like, “She’s playing a show in Toronto, I’m going to go and see if it’s actually Claire or not.” Later he responded: “Checked it out, it wasn’t Claire.”

Nicole is on tour now with her RFC labelmates Teen Suicide and Elvis Depressedly, having played NYC with them a Market Hotel on August 3. (Anyone catch that show?) She’ll return to NYC for a headlining show on October 28 at Shea Stadium. Tickets for that show go on sale Wednesday (8/17) at 10 AM. Updated dates are listed below.
