Nightbringer, Falls of Rauros, G.A.T.E.S., Destruction & more heavy NYC shows

Exciting metal and hardcore shows happening in NYC are announced all the time. We try to cover as much as we can (and there’s even more on Invisible Oranges) but some things still fall through the cracks. Here’s a roundup of some upcoming heavy NYC shows that we haven’t mentioned yet.

Decibel contributor and Kosmodemonic member Shawn Bosler recently suffered a horrific injury and there’s a benefit show happening for him at Saint Vitus on Friday (3/24). The bill has All Out War headlining, plus Anicon, Die Choking and Insect Ark. Tickets are on sale.

There’s a late show at Vitus that same night with local hardcore maniacs Crazy Spirit, plus Haram, Conspiracy and Bull. Tickets are on sale, and proceeds benefit the Council of American Islamic Relations.

Also at Vitus this weekend are the Planning for Burial and Inter Arma / Woe shows.

Texas hardcore kids Glue return to NYC to play Saint Vitus on April 4 with Exotica, Terrorist and Mati (tickets).

Not exactly metal, but the metal community has been big on synthwave lately and synthwavers GosT play Vitus on 4/14 (tickets).

Portland, Maine black metallers Falls of Rauros return to Saint Vitus on April 18 with Obsidian Tongue, Luminous Vault and Reg Bloor (tickets).

Garage punks Hank Wood and the Hammerheads play a benefit for the Grand Central Food Program at Saint Vitus on May 5 with La Misma, Mommy, Conspiracy, Fur Helmet and Shimmer (tickets).

The Weekend Nachos-related Like Rats return to NYC to play Lucky 13 on May 18 with Crypt Rot and Blame Gods (tickets).

There’s an official Defenders of the Old Festival afterparty on June 17 at Saint Vitus (11:59 AM), headlined by Japanese metal/punk band G.A.T.E.S., who will be making their US debut. The bill also includes Stone Dagger, Warthog and DJ Satannick (tickets).

Blaze Bayley, who sang for Iron Maiden from 1994 to 1999 (and was in Wolfsbane before that), plays Vitus on August 10 (tickets).

The fifth NY Deathfest goes down at Saint Vitus on August 11 & 12 with Maligancny, Internal Bleeding, Thanatology, Immortal Suffering, Condemned, Embalmer, Stages of Decomposition, and more. Tickets (single show tickets and two-day passes) are on sale now. Malignancy also play Vitus on 3/30 (tickets).

German thrash vets Destruction play Gramercy Theatre on June 1 with Jungle Rot, Warbringer and Demons Within. Tickets are on sale.

Right after playing Maryland Deathfest, Colorado black metal band Nightbringer play Saint Vitus on May 29 with Worthless and Night Rite. Tickets are on sale. UPDATE: Saint Vitus show cancelled.

Nightbringer’s new album Terra Damnata comes out on April 14 via Season of Mist. Here’s a track from it:

In previously-discussed recent metal news: Megadeth are touring with Scorpions. Gorguts are touring. The Phil Anselmo-led supergroup Scour have a one-off at Vitus. Mastodon debuted new songs at SXSW. Danzig has a new album and festival. Tool added dates.

Earlier this week, we published anniversary pieces on Iron Maiden’s The Number of the Beast and Anthrax’s Among the Living. Both Maiden and Anthrax will be in New York on their upcoming tours.

In addition to Anthrax and Megadeth, Metallica and Slayer have upcoming NY (and NJ) shows. So you can try to catch the whole Big Four (separately) this year.

Don’t forget we’re giving away tickets to see Pallbearer with Marissa Nadler and Kayo Dot in NYC this Saturday.
