Nine Inch Nails played 'Broken' in full at tour opener w/ JAMC (videos, setlists)

Nine Inch Nails began their tour with their old friends/heroes The Jesus and Mary Chain at Phoenix, AZ’s Comerica Theatre last night (9/13), and the setlist was not at all a repeat of their last tour. Though NIN are supporting their great new album Bad Witch, they actually opened the show with a performance of their classic 1992 Broken EP from front to back. It was the first time they played that EP’s “Happiness In Slavery” since 1995, and the first time they played “Last” and their version of Adam and the Ants’ “Physical” in nearly a decade.

Later on in the set, they played a couple songs from Bad Witch, made the live debut of “This Isn’t the Place” from 2017’s Add Violence, played their version of David Bowie’s “I’m Afraid of Americans” (which Trent Reznor helped Bowie record), and broke out classics like “March of the Pigs” and “Head Like A Hole.” See NIN’s full setlist and watch videos of almost the entire Broken portion of the set (and the Bowie song) below.

The Jesus and Mary Chain leaned heavily on last year’s Damage and Joy, which was their first album in 19 years, and they also played classics like “Some Candy Talking” from the 1986 EP of the same name, “In A Hole” from Psychocandy, “Blues From A Gun” and “Head On” from Automatic, and “Reverence” from Honey’s Dead. (Looks like no “Just Like Honey.”) You can see their setlist and a couple videos below too.

The NIN/JAMC tour also has an additional opener on each stop, and last night’s show was with Tobacco, who also opens their show at the same venue tonight (9/14). After that, they head to Red Rocks, then River City Rockfest, Louder Than Life, and more. In October, NIN and JAMNC will land in NYC for shows at Radio City on 10/13 & 10/14 and Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre for shows on 10/16 & 10/17. 10/13 is with Kite Base and the other three are with Daniel Avery. Both Radio City shows are sold out but there are resale tickets available, and the Kings Theatre shows only have single-seat tickets left (get tickets here). All remaining dates are listed below.
