After a few delays, Nitehawk Cinema‘s new Park Slope location, which takes over the old Pavilion Theater, will have its Grand Opening on Wednesday, December 19. Officially named Nitehawk Cinema Prospect Park, it’s unclear what exactly the Grand Opening entails and if that means it’ll be open for regular moviegoing starting then, but Nitehawk promises more details are “coming soon.” Park Slope Patch reported Wednesday that the first screening at Nitehawk would be a private event for neighbors, friends and family as a trial run before the Grand Opening.

UPDATE (12/17): Wednesday (12/19) is indeed Nitehawk Prospect Park’s opening day and they’ll be showing Mary Poppins Returns, The World Before Your Feet, The Favourite, Green Book, Aquaman, Shoplifters, and Free Solo. Check out the showtimes and Nitehawk Prospect Park’s food and drink menu here.

Nitehawk began working on renovating the Pavilion almost two years ago, and had hoped to open in fall of 2017, then winter 2018, and then it was supposed to open just after Halloween, but there were more delays.

Nitehawk Prospect Park will house seven theaters with 650 seats total.
