No more shows at Park Church Co-Op?

UPDATE: Park Church Co-Op given 9-month funding extension, will still host shows.

In the fall of 2016, Greenpoint’s Park Church Co-Op began hosting concerts, and that may sadly have come to an end. The church was raising money to stay open last year, but they revealed in February that “unfortunately because of budget cuts at all levels of the church, it was determined that there is not enough funding to support the Park Church Co-op past 4 months.” They later added, “This seems like an ending, but maybe it is just a new beginning. As I know more information I will share it with the community. And for those who use our space, I will let you know as soon as possible what it might mean for your group or event.”

Around that same time, a few shows were moved to new venues — a move that went mostly under the radar (shows move all the time), and it has been business as usual at the church with Holly Miranda playing a big record release show just last week, but if you look at their schedule now you’ll notice something very curious. No more shows! Rumor is that all shows are ending and/or the church is sadly closing for good on April 6th. If true this is truly horrible news, as a special venue like the Park Church Co-Op doesn’t come around very often.

The Current Joys/Navy Gangs/Lauren Early show, which was supposed to take place at the church on April 9, was moved to Trans-Pecos. The Anna & Elizabeth show for April 23 was moved to Le Poisson Rouge. The Alex Zhang Hungtai & Gabriel Ferrandini and Brian Chase show for May 17 was moved to National Sawdust.

Stay tuned for more info. UPDATE: Park Church Co-Op given 9-month funding extension, will still host shows.
