nots-2016

Memphis band NOTS made one of the garage punk albums of the year with Cosmetic, a snarling, dystopian ripper that has no shortage of hooks. If you haven’t checked it out, you can stream the whole thing below. The band will be on tour in February 2017, hitting the Southwest and West Coast (they did an East Coast tour earlier this fall). They’ll also play Primavera Sound in the spring. and those dates are listed below.

Speaking of touring, NOTS sent us their year end list which is a little different than most we’ve gotten, offering up their top ten tour stops of 2016, including stops home and abroad, complete with commentary. Check that out below.

Nots Top Ten Tour Stops of 2016
1. Cologne at King Georg – This bar felt like home. One of my favorite shows of 2016.

2. Lugano, Switzerland at II Cassoto – this show was at a home turned beautiful
venue and we had incredible homemade spaghetti.

3. Nice, France- at some basement that may have been shut down after we played – The show was wild and the cops showed up and we had to hide in the art gallery upstairs. There was a ton of wine up there so we just drank while the cops walked around downstairs. Good times.

4. Silent Barn in NYC– one of my favorite places I’ve played in NYC. Everyone had a great attitude and was very down for a fun show.

5. Cleveland at Now That’s Class / hanging out at Club Ontario– probably our favorite bar in the country. We ended up playing on a chill Monday, but we still had a great time being secret jocks and watching baseball with Paul and John and company. We love hangin in Cleveland.

6. Philly at Everybody Hits – to continue with the baseball theme- this show was at an indoor batting cage.whattttupp not so secret jocks.

7. Oakland at Salt Lick – this show was a total surprise, we decided to play it the day of. Oakland has a very special place in our hearts.

8. Chicago at Mouse Trap-very cool DIY spot. We played with our friends Running, who we’re always excited to see.

9. Riverwest Public House – Milwaukee – this is one of the only collectively owned bars in the country, so that alone is pretty cool. And the show was great.

10. Eagle Club 34- Minneapolis – I highly recommend going here at any chance you get. The age range here was literally 18-80+ and there were multiple shows going on at once. Very fun.
