NY Comic Con 2017 pics (Star Trek, Willy Wonka, cosplay & more from Sunday)

The 2017 edition of New York Comic Con wrapped up on Sunday (10/8) at Jacob Javits Center. The New York Daily News reports that this year’s convention saw record breaking crowds of 200,000 fans over four sold-out days, up from over 180,000 in 2016. Genre pop culture of the sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and superhero sort was celebrated in a range of panels and events, and attendees had their last chance on Sunday to shop the sales floor and visit Artist’s Alley. Of course, there was also more cosplay. We’ve shared pictures of our favorite cosplayers from Thursday HERE, Friday HERE, and Saturday HERE. Above, check out a gallery from Sunday at Comic Con, including Prince, a Starbucks unicorn frappuccino, The Shining’s Grady twins, a homeless Captain America, Horace Slughorn from Harry Potter, a punk rock Spider-Man, and characters from Star Trek, Game of Thrones, and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. There were also an abundance of Harley Quinn and Wonder Woman cosplayers.

Life of Agony‘s Alan Robert made a few appearances at this year’s Comic Con, including a panel and signing on Friday, and a second panel of new and noteworthy releases from IDW Publishing on Sunday. Alan was promoting his new horror coloring book The Beauty of Horror II. He also met up with his old cartooning teacher, Thor artist Walter Simonson:

One of the most anticipated events on Sunday was the official The X-Files panel where stars David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson and Mitch Pileggi, as well as series creator Chris Carter, and featured the first screening of the first trailer for season 11 which will air in early 2018. Watch that below. The truth will have to wait until S11 airs, but they did off some hints, as Deadline reports:

“They get kissin’ close,” Carter said of the relationship between Scully and Mulder this upcoming season. “We can’t really say much of anything,” Pileggi joked, though the panel admitted the season will show his Walter Skinner character as a young man.

Also on Sunday, the upcoming Batman vs Two-Face, the sequel to the animated Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, had its world premiere, followed by a panel with the the actors who voice Harvey Dent/Two-Face and Robin, William Shatner and Burt Ward (who played Robin in the ’60s TV version). SYFY Wire reports:

Batman vs. Two-Face follows the the Dynamic Duo as they face a Gotham that is slowly turning into a two-faced zombie apocalypse. At the Gotham State Penitentiary, Dr. Hugo Strange thinks his Evil Extractor is the solution to supervillains (and superheroes). This thing is supposed to literally extract the evil from a villain’s brain and make saving anyone from their nefarious plots obsolete. You might realize it doesn’t work when the Joker starts laughing under its influence. You finally concede it doesn’t work when every villain in the room is cackling madly. Don’t ever trust anyone whose assistant is Harleen Quinzel.

Just like the original live-action Batman series, which first put Gotham in people’s living rooms back in 1966 (not to mention Batgirl), the sequel to Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders has those retro-cool Zap! Bam! Pow! sound effects flashing onscreen. Just like Return, this one is animated entirely in 2D, because 3D CGI was just not a thing in the ‘60s. It also features Batman and Robin’s original costumes, the original Batmobile, and some new Bat-weapons that are at once ingenious and ridiculous.

Watch a sneak peak of the video, which comes out Tuesday (10/10), below.
