NYC psych-punk trio Skull Practitioners releasing debut EP (stream it)

Skull Practitioners_MARC HALL

Jason Victor has been playing lead guitar with Steve Wynn for years, in both Wynn’s solo band The Miracle 3 and the current lineup of The Dream Syndicate. When not doing that, Jason makes heavy, psych-infected punk as part of NYC trio Skull Practitioners, alongside bassist Kenneth Levine and drummer Alex Baker. The group have been together since 2013 or so but, to date, have only released a 2014 cassette. Until this year. Now signed to L.A.’s In The Red Records, Skull Practitioners have an album on the way but first will release a limited-edition, vinyl-only EP, titled Death Buy, on Friday (8/23). If you dig early-’80s L.A. dusty punk like Gun Club, X and Flesh Eaters, or the many works of Jon Spencer, you will want to check out these four ripping, ripped-up tracks. And you can right now — stream of the whole EP premieres in this post. Listen below.

Skull Practitioners will celebrate the EP’s release at Brooklyn’s Gran Torino on August 30 with The Rats of New York and Electric Mess. Info on that show is here.
