Octave Cat

Octave Cat (Lotus, Dopapod) releasing debut, playing shows (stream a track)

Octave Cat is a new trio formed by two members of two electronics-fueled jam bands, Lotus bassist Jesse Miller and Dopapod keyboardist Eli Winderman. Rounding out the lineup is drummer Charlie Patierno. The project began when Jesse and Eli met up to play around with some of Jesse’s modular and vintage synthesizers, and the band’s name comes from the first synth that their first session started with, Octave’s late-’70s synth The Cat. They’re planning to release a debut album soon, and we’re premiering “Intl Klein,” a six-and-a-half minute jam that puts a modern twist on jazz fusion. It’s pretty addictive — check it out below.

Octave Cat are also playing shows this month in Philly, NYC, and Baltimore. The NYC show happens on March 18 at American Beauty (251 W 30th St). Tickets for that show are on sale now. All dates are listed below.
