Ollie from A Place to Bury Strangers lists his Top 10 vegan restaurants in Brooklyn

Oliver Ackermann of A Place to Bury Strangers is one of the hardest-working guys around — when the band isn’t touring or recording, he’s running his effects pedal shop, Death by Audio. This year APTBS released both new LP Pinned as well as remix album Re-Pinned that featured reworks by Slowdive, Trentemøller, No Age, Metz, and more. Listen to those, and check out their 2019 tour schedule (currently Australia, New Zealand & France), below.

We asked Ollie for a top 10 list of 2018, and he gave us one that is near and dear to BV’s heart: his favorite vegan restaurants in Brooklyn. Read his list, with commentary, below.

OLIVER ACKERMANN of A PLACE TO BURY STRANGERS’ TOP 10 BROOKLYN VEGAN RESTAURANTS

Screamers – Man this pizza is so good. They sell slices and pretty late into the night as well and if I order a whole Grandma Pie with pesto forget about it.

Modern Love – A bit pricey but their food is very fancy and very tasty.

Pitanga – I like to get a shot of ginger and lemon and cayenne and an açaí bowl with almond butter if I wanna feel 110%.

Sol Sips – Dang them nut milks are off the chain and them waffles and scrumptious sandwiches.

Riverdel – They have a ton of artisanal cheeses and the grilled cheese sandwich with pickles which maybe doesn’t sound good is quite the opposite. Incredible.

Brooklyn Whiskers – This place is good to split a scramacado toast and biscuits and gravy with someone else because they both are so good it’s too tough to decide which one to get. And the biscuits are shaped like cat heads which is a bonus?

Champs – The staple vegan diner around the area. I always order a milkshake after a meal and indulge. They also opened Hartbreakers which serves lunch type sandwiches and they are so good its insane.

Trans Am Cafe – This joint is off the chain delicious.

Amituofo – Hands down the best greasy cook-up of an Impossible burger in the area and really really good Chinese food as well.

Rip’s Malt Shop – Malts and really good beach food. Yummy.
