One Step Closer share “Lead to Gray”; debut album due this summer
The very promising Wilkes-Barre melodic hardcore band One Step Closer released the killer From Me To You EP last year, and they’ve been promising that their debut full-length album will be out in late summer 2020 via Triple B Records, preceded by an LP promo in February. That promo is now here, and it features the new song “Lead to Gray” along with a cover of veteran NJ band Turning Point‘s “Broken.”
“Lead to Gray” captures everything that made From Me to You so great, but it also sees the band clearly moving forward and tastefully incorporating clean vocals. It’s still badass enough that I don’t think it’s gonna make hardcore kids jump ship or anything, but if they’ve got more songs like this on the album, I think it’s gonna (deservingly) gain One Step Closer a whole new fanbase. The Turning Point cover is killer too — listen to both below.
One Step Closer and their likeminded labelmates Anxious (whose debut album is also due this year) are about to begin a tour supporting Knuckle Puck, which also has Heart Attack Man on the bill. If you’re catching that tour, get there on time for these very good openers. Dates below.
