Every few months, it seems, one of the spaces that transformed Williamsburg from warehouse-heavy cultural dead zone to warehouse-heavy primordial soup for the city’s creative life finally surrenders to the neighborhood’s ongoing condo-fication, literal and metaphorical. At the beginning of the year, it was 285 Kent, which not that long ago was followed into the ether by Death by Audio. Now it’s Glasslands’s turn.
Never again will you be able to wait at the top of that staircase behind the bar to go into the questionable bathroom. Never again will you wonder if the art installed on the wall is secure enough to hold up against the sound rumbling from the stage. [NY TIMES]
The secret show on New Year’s Eve is sold out, but you can still get tickets to see TR/ST at Glasslands TONIGHT (12/29), and to see Cymbals Eat Guitars play the closing club on 12/30. Three more shows, and then Glasslands is closed forever. The full lineups look like this:
