Press release:

Hot on the heels of their latest record of hard-hitting polyrhythmic skree, TAIGA, OOIOO have unleashed fellow sonic cohort EYÉà from Boredoms to dismember and reassemble two of their songs. “UMO” and “UMA” get the remix treatment here – both OOIOO’s takes on “SECONDO CORO DELLE LAVANDAIE” from the Roberto De Simone Italian folk opera, La Gatta Cenerentola (Cinderella the Cat), from the 1970’s.

La Gatta Cenerentola was based on the Cinderella story and voiced in the Neopolitan dialiect, originally a Neopolitan folk tale before it was re-written by a Frenchman. “UMO” and “UMA” mantain the Neopolitan language and lyrics, but the tribal rhythyms of the orignal and OOIOO’s versions are replaced here with EYÉà’s synth bass, resulting in two long tracks that reinvent Yoshimi’s jet-propelled psychedelic pep rallies as bass-driven dancefloor slammers.

As EYÉà has shown us on recent Boredoms records, he has an uncanny knack for harnessing a groove and blowing it up to a previously unknown scale, and thats exactly what he does here. EYÉà also designed the artwork for this release.
