Oscars 2019 nominees (‘Black Panther,’ ‘A Star Is Born,’ ‘Bohemian Rhapsody,’ Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, more)

The nominations for the 2019 Oscars have been announced. Best Picture noms are Black Panther, BlacKkKLansman, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Favourite, Green Book, Roma, A Star Is Born, and Vice.

On the music end, nominees for Original Score are up, including Black Panther, BlackkKlansman, If Beale Street Could Talk, Isle of Dogs, and Mary Poppins Returns. Nominees for Original Song include “All The Stars” from Black Panther by Kendrick Lamar & SZA; “Shallow” from A Star Is Born by Lady Gaga, Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando, Andrew Wyatt, and Benjamin Rice; “I’ll Fight” from RBG by Diane Warren and Jennifer Hudson, “The Place Where Lost Things Go” from Marry Poppins Returns by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman; and “When A Cowboy Trades His Spurs For Wings” from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs by Gillian Welch and David Rawlings.

Thom Yorke’s “Suspirium,” which was shortlisted for Original Song, did not get nominated, nor did Sampha’s “Treasure,” Jonsi & Troye Sivan’s “Revelation,” Dolly Parton’s “Girl in the Movies,” The Coup & Lakeith Stanfield‘s “OYAHYTT,” Quincy Jones, Chaka Khan & Mark Ronson‘s “Keep Reachin’,” or Sade’s “The Big Unknown.” Geoff Barrow and Ben Salisbury’s Annihilation score was shortlisted by Original Score but did not get nominated.

Lead Actor noms go to Bradley Cooper (A Star Is Born), Christian Bale (Vice), Willem Dafoe (At Eternity’s Gate), Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody), and Viggo Mortensen (Green Book).

Lead Actress noms go to Lady Gaga (A Star Is Born), Yalitza Aparicio (Roma), Glenn Close (The Wife), Olivia Colman (The Favourite), and Melissa McCarthy (Can You Ever Forgive Me?).

Nominees for Best Director are Spike Lee (BlacKkKlansman), Pawel Pawlikowski (Cold War), Yorgos Lanthimos (The Favourite), Alfonso Cuarón (Roma), Adam McKay (Vice).
