Osheaga 2019 - Friday

Osheaga 2019 day 1 pics (Kurt Vile, Interpol, Sharon Van Etten, Rosalia, more)

After two years on Île Notre-Dame, Montreal’s Osheaga festival returned to its former, now renovated home of Parc Jean-Drapeau on Île Sainte-Hélène for its 2019 edition. Another big change: now that marijuana is legal in Canada, attendees are allowed to bring up to 30 grams of weed into the festival, as long as it’s in a sealed, government-issued container, and they are 18 years of age or older. Quite a difference from festivals in the US, even in states that have passed legalization measures.

J. Balvin unfortunately had to cancel his set (because of “unforeseen TFR restrictions on airspace in the New York area”), as did Jessie Reyez (because of a herniated disc), but Friday at Osheaga did feature sets from Kurt Vile and the Violators, Interpol, Sharon Van Etten, Rosalia, Mitski, (who gave a shoutout to artist catering during her set, saying, “artists come from all over the world for the artist catering at Osheaga. Artists who aren’t invited to play the festival ask their artist friends to put them on the list so they can have the catering.”) Gucci Mane, $uicideboy$, Joji, Denzel Curry, JPEGMAFIA, and more. Check out pictures in the gallery above, and stay tuned for more from Osheaga 2019.
