Osheaga day 2 pics (Arctic Monkeys, Lord Huron, Future Islands, Blondie, more)

It’s shaping up to be a historic weekend for Osheaga, but not because of the acts or crowds. This year’s edition of the festival is expected to be one of the hottest on record. Environment Canada said that Sunday’s temperature is expected to eclipse 30 degrees [Celcius]. With the humidex, it will feel closer to 40 degrees. [CTV News Montreal]

The 2018 edition of Osheaga continued on Saturday (8/4) with sets from Arctic Monkeys, Lord Huron, Future Islands, Blondie, Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals, Alvvays, Kali Uchis, LP and more. Check out pictures in the gallery above.

According to Montreal Gazette, Blondie’s set was a highlight of the day:

It could have gone either way. Blondie at Osheaga might have flown ever most kids’ heads. But the chants of “Blondie! Blondie!” and the masses gathering in the minutes before the legendary New York disco-punk band took the main River Stage were the first signs that would not be the case. When Debbie Harry and her bandmates took the stage to the electrifying One Way Or Another, it quickly became clear their set would be one of the weekend’s standouts. Sporting a pink top and black cape with the words “Stop f—ing the planet” on the back, the 72-year-old Harry exuded attitude and breathtaking charisma in copious amounts. (For the record, drummer Clem Burke wore a CBGBs T-shirt.) They played the hits — a giddy Call Me, a funky Rapture, a swaying Tide Is High (which brought on a jubilant singalong) — and gave fans and old a memorable lesson in old school star power.

Osheaga wraps up today in Montreal’s Parc Jean-Drapeau. Check out our pictures from Friday, and stay tuned for more from the festival.
