Pallbearer announce tour with Tombs and Vattnet Viskar, who both also play NYC this month (dates)

In what looks to be the metal press darling tour of the fall, Pallbearer, Tombs and Vattnet Viskar are teaming up for a North American run that kicks off on October 17 in Nashville. The tour hits New York on October 27 at Saint Vitus—tickets go on sale on Friday (7/11) at noon. If you want to see Pallbearer and your city isn’t on this list, don’t despair–Pallbearer is finalizing the details of a second tour leg that will take place in places “West of Little Rock.” It’s unclear if that tour will include Tombs and Vattnet Viskar. As part of their currently planned run, Pallbearer (just PB) will also be playing Fun Fun Fun Fest. All announced dates are listed below.

After a tape demo, Pallbearer stormed onto the metal scene with 2012’s massive and great Sorrow and Extinction, a release that, for a lot of people, (re)kindled an interest in doom. The band’s followup, Foundations Of Burden, is out on August 19 on Profound Lore Records. You can stream a track at NPR.

Brooklyn’s Tombs put out the excellent Savage Gold a few weeks back (stream a track, read an interview and review at Invisible Oranges) and, if past experience is to judge, will be great live. They’ll be in NYC way before the tour with Pallbearer to celebrate the new LP with a release show at Saint Vitus (7/25) with Pyrhhon, Statiqbloom and Passage Between. Tickets for that show are still available. Their tour also hits Richmond’s Fall Line Fest.

As mentioned, New Hampshire black metal band Vattnet Viskar, who have toured regularly since 2013’s Sky Swallower, will also be in NYC before the Pallbearer tour on their tour with the awesome Silver Snakes. That hits NYC on 7/21 at the Acheron with No Way and Twin Strike (tickets).

Pallbearer will be on a previously discussed tour in Europe with the mighty doom band Yob before their tour with Tombs and Vattnet Viskar. All dates are listed below…
