Parquet Courts celebrating World Cup 2018 with "Total Football" pop-up in NYC

The 2018 FIFA World Cup, which this year is in Russia, starts June 15 and while Parquet Courts haven’t gone and written a World Cup Anthem, per se, the opening cut on their new album Wide Awake!, “Total Football,” uses the sport as a metaphor for their call-to-arms manifesto about a wide variety of “Rebels, teachers / Strikers, sweepers.” In that spirit, and taking advantage of World Cup Fever, Parquet Courts are launching the Total Football Pop-Up which will be in NYC’s Canal Street Market from Jun 8 – Jun 17.

Available at the pop-up: copies of their “Total Football” 7″ (which features panini sticker-book style sleeve art by A. Savage), ‘Wide Awake!’ albums, club pins, soccer scarves and “extremely limited” free “Total Football” zines by A. Savage. There’s also a mural made by A. Savage and you can hang out and play FIFA, a special Parquet Courts customized foosball table, and they’ll be showing games, too:

June 15:
• 11am – Morocco v Iran
• 2pm – Portugal v Spain

June 16:
• 12pm – Peru v Denmark
• 3pm – Croatia v Nigeria

June 17
• 11am – Germany v Mexico
• 2pm – Brazil v Switzerland

Meanwhile, Parquet Courts are currently on tour with Goat Girl and will play three sold-out NYC shows next weekend.
