After Patti Smith played Stephen Stills’ guest-filled autism benefit in LA over the weekend, she returned to her hometown of NYC last night for the premiere of the Horses: Patti Smith and Her Band concert film at Beacon Theatre, as part of the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival. Patti and Her Band performed a few songs, including “Land / Gloria” from Horses, “Pissing In A River” from its followup Radio Ethiopia, and a cover of “For What It’s Worth” by Buffalo Springfield (which Buffalo Springfield members Neil Young and Stephen Stills performed together at that autism benefit). Patti also brought out two very special guests to close the set. She played the Bruce Springsteen-penned “Because the Night” with The Boss himself, and Bruce stuck around for set-closer “People Have the Power,” which also saw R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe and Patti’s daughter Jesse Smith come on stage. Watch videos of both of those collaborations, and a few other songs from Patti’s performance, below.
